Hackney marsh heroes
The Hackney Marshes is the home of English Sunday League Football. Located between Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient it is home to dozens of teams playing in nine different leagues. These include leagues for women, schoolchildren and representatives of London's Asian, Turkish and Kurdish communities. The Marshes has and does spawn football stars: Terry Venables, Paul Ince and David Beckham to name but a few.

Every Sunday over 100 matches are played morning and afternoon. Players of all ages, shapes and sizes - not to mention level of ability - will give up their Sunday mornings to play for very little else than the love of the game. This is grass roots level football at its purest and these are the real stars of football...The Hackney marsh heroes.
